Chapter one- Ember
The Boredom of the college History class, choked the students minds. Ember's green eyes swept the room, looking for any sign of life in her classmates eyes. She brushed her dark brown hair that was streaked with red, and gold, behind her pale bony shoulder.
Her scanning eyes, caught the familiar hazel. She dropped her gaze from her best friends, Ream, with a smile, to the cover of the new book she had received just minuets before.
THE LOST KINGDOM

A shudder ran through her. Mr. Coldfelder was up at the front of the room talking about proper book-holding techniques. She flipped through her book, bored, until she happened upon a page that made her blood run cold.
There was a picture, with a caption and writing next to it. At the top, the page said it was page 156, and chapter 12. She kept staring at the picture. She couldn't stop.
Suddenly, A tall black haired, pale figure was in front of her desk. Reams face was split into a grin.
"Zone out again, Em?" He asked teasingly.
"Yep," she said as he pushed his hand through his messy black hair. "Where's Bonnie?" Referring to the absence of their other best friend from birth.
"Doctor's appointment," he said sadly, "again. That's the third time this month."
"Oh," she was still confused, "So why are you at my desk?"
"I am at your desk because the bell rang five minutes ago, and you have not moved for twenty minutes. I am sure though that even if the bell hadn't rung, Mr. C. wouldn't have noticed.... So did you see what we're studing? I thought the Council had forbidden it."
"Oh they did. Until college level." She said for the umpteenth time.
"Right. Anyway are you sure your okay?" he sounded worried, for she still hadn't moved.
"No." She answered truthfully.
He looked at her curiously.
